Targeting fraud
Targeting fraud
It’s important the Trustee protects the money in the Scheme so they can continue to pay your benefits. In fact, they have a duty to do so.
This means that, to prevent and detect fraud, they sometimes need to share information the Scheme holds with other bodies.
On behalf of the Trustee, Mercer carries out screening and tracing services.
Mercer will:
- Trace members (including EPB-only members) if we don’t have any contact details on record
- Identify deceased members where we haven’t been made aware of a death
- Reduce the number of cases of overpaid pensions (where a member has died, and the Scheme hasn’t been notified)
Pensioners aged over 100 or living overseas
To help us make sure the information in our records is correct, Mercer sends you a letter in the post or by email each year.
When you receive this, please check your details are correct and let us know if they’re not. If you don’t receive this in a 12-month period, it’s likely you will need to update your address.
