Updating your nominations
The Scheme may pay benefits to your dependant(s) in the event of your death. You can nominate who you want to receive these benefits, which might include a lump sum (only if you die within five years of retiring from the Scheme), a dependant’s pension, children’s pensions, and a bereavement grant.
Nominate someone to receive the lump sum
You can nominate more than one person and tell us what percentage you’d like each person to receive.
To let us know who you would like to nominate:
- Fill in the Letter of Intent form
- Print and complete the Letter of Intent
- Send it to us in the post (address is on the form).
- Details will be updated and we’ll confirm the changes have been done.
Nominate someone to receive a dependant’s pension
A dependant’s pension is automatically paid to your spouse or civil partner for the rest of their life. If you’re not married or in a civil partnership, and left service after 1 October 1987, you can nominate:
- a partner
- an aged parent
- a disabled child who isn’t able to support themselves financially.
In the event of your death, the people you have nominated will need to provide evidence of their financial dependency or interdependency.
To let us know who you would like to nominate:

- Print and complete the Dependant Nomination form.
- Send it to us in the post (address is on the form).
- Details will be updated and we’ll confirm the changes have been done.
